Cardiologist – doctor to be entrusted with the health of your heart

Cardiovascular health – a priority at any age.

Heart disease can often remain silent for long periods of time, but when it starts to manifest itself, it’s important not to ignore the symptoms. Shortness of breath, palpitations, high blood pressure or simply feeling something is wrong with the heart – all of which can be reasons for visiting a cardiologist. Such a move is not an exaggeration, but a concern for yourself and those close to you.

As well as being a specialist in the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease, the cardiologist is also someone who will be able to assess, by listening and understanding your story, whether symptoms indicate serious health conditions or transient overload. And above all, he will help take action on time.

When should I go to a cardiologist?

It is recommended that you seek the help of a cardiologist if you experience any of the following symptoms:

  • chest pain, especially during physical or psychoemotional exercise
  • palpitations or irregular pulse
  • long-term increase in blood pressure
  • shortness of breath even at rest or with minimal physical or psychoemotional stress;
  • sudden temporary weakness, dizziness
  • loss of consciousness

A visit is also recommended if:

  • family members have had serious heart disease or sudden death;
  • changes in the electrocardiogram have been detected;
  • follow-up treatment should be evaluated after heart surgery or other manipulation;

Check your heart health prophylactically, especially after the age of 40.

What happens during a visit to a cardiologist?

The visit usually starts with a conversation – your doctor will ask you about complaints, their duration, lifestyle, previous illnesses, medication and family history. If you have previous examinations (tests, ECG, echocardiogram), take them with you – they will help create a more accurate picture of your state of health.

A cardiologist may offer the following examinations:

  • Electrocardiogram (ECG);
  • Echocardiography (heart USG)
  • Holter monitoring – 24-168 hours of ECG record;
  • 24-hour blood pressure monitoring;
  • if necessary, other examinations in cooperation with specialists from other fields.

Cardiac health monitoring is a long-term Investment

Prevention of heart health is not complicated but essential. Even if you don’t feel complaints right now, it’s valuable to check:

  • blood pressure at least once a year;
  • blood cholesterol and sugar levels
  • assess lifestyle: diet, physical activity, stress and sleep quality.

The cardiologist will make recommendations on how to improve daily habits and, if necessary, develop an individual treatment plan, both with medication and lifestyle adjustments.
